Maisey Rika
Tohu (CD)
Tohu, is a collection of 12 songs Maisey has written over the past decade.
These originals include tracks such as "Ladeda Day", "Omaio" and "Untouchable".
Some of these are the very first songs written by Maisey, chosen to illustrate
her unique songwriting.
This collection explores many different arrangement styles. The ancestral
sounds of traditional Maori instruments have been used along side energetic
guitars, drums, animated horn sections and pure string sections.

If you were to take a scenic journey down the eastern coast of New Zealand, you would most likely hear the sounds of waves crashing on the beach, Tui’s calling from the trees and the spiritual sound of Maisey Rika.
With lush soundscapes and the dynamics of her first single ‘Reconnect’ through to bohemian vibes of ‘Scouting Polka’, Maisey’s music is a gift both vocally and lyrically.

'Reconnect' has a stunning music video - check it out on Youtube»
Hailing from Whakatane, this singer/songwriter gives the listener a taste of her gentle yet majestic voice that captivates audiences worldwide in this, her first solo release. With her brother JJ on the guitar, each song brings a different flavour of their unique sound combining Te Reo Māori and conscious lyrics.
Together with top New Zealand producers, Simon Holloway and Mahuia Bridgeman-Cooper, Maisey has developed a poetic sound scape of folk, soul and easy listening.
Songs on her EP include her breakthrough YouTube introduction 'Children of Romania' (90,000 views), a song based upon orphaned children in Romania.
MAISEY RIKA shines through AOTEAROA soon.
